Kissing disease is also known as infectious mononucleosis, which is referred to as mono. The main reason behind the kissing disease is the Epstein-Barr virus, which spreads through the saliva. As the disease spreads through kissing, it is named kissing disease. However, the disease is not as fast spreading as cold, but still, we have to take precautions to save ourselves and others from any health effects of this disease. If you are infected with this disease, sharing a glass of water or other things in contact with your mouth can spread the disease to others.

Health experts say kissing is not a severe disease. Still, sometimes this disease, also known as mononucleosis or “mono, can lead to serious health problems because it spreads through the Epstein-Barr virus, which is the reason behind fever, swollen glands, sore throat, fatigue, and muscle aches. However, most people recover from this disease within a couple of weeks. Still, there are some cases in which people have serious problems that last longer than two weeks, such as liver, anemia, inflammation, or even a ruptured spleen.

You should know that everyone doesn’t need to have the same symptoms. There may be mild or not-at-all symptoms in some persons. But if you got a little sign of any symptom, then you should consult your health care expert immediately. Here are some of the common symptoms of infectious mononucleosis.

  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the neck and armpits
  • Skin rash
  • Muscle aches
  • Soft, swollen spleen

There are not any certain exceptions, and anyone can be infected with the kissing disease. However, it has been seen mostly in teenagers and adults. Kissing disease, also known as infectious mononucleosis, spreads through saliva while kissing or sharing utensils with others. Children are also sensitive, so they can get infected with this disease.

How to prevent the spreading of kissing disease?

If you have any kissing disease symptoms, you should immediately consult your doctor for medical treatment. In the meantime, you should follow the following precautions to stop spreading the disease to others.

  • Avoid kissing
  • Wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face, eyes, and nose,
  • Eat a healthy diet
  • Avoid sharing drinks and utensils, and
  • Getting enough rest.

Although kissing disease is not a dangerous disease, you should still stop it before it can lead to some dangerous health issues. On finding any symptom limit your physical contact with others and consult your doctor immediately.
